Tie rods and limit rods are mechanical restraints used to control the movement of metal expansion joints. Tie rods absorb pressure thrust and limit joint travel, preventing overextension or damage. Limit rods allow limited movement while restricting excessive displacement. Both components are critical in unanchored or high-pressure systems requiring controlled flexibility.
